Kuar (Henrik Schwarz Remix) – Emmanuel Jal

Happy New Year crew.

Boy do I have a treat for you today. I actually cannot believe I haven’t posted this one before. It’s Henrik Schwarz remixing Emmanuel Jal’s Kuar and it’s a stonker. It was the first track I heard this decade, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. Shout out to Philou Louzolo for a big New Year’s set at De Marktkantine.

So this track is massive in its own right, but I just read a bit of the back story of Emmanuel Jal and it is nuts. He was a child soldier in Sudan before he was rescued and smuggled out into Kenya. He then went on to forge a successful career across music, film and social causes. Read about him here.

Gender (Axel Boman Remix) – Skinnerbox

This is a sprawling monster of a track. Spanning 11 minutes with no obvious drops, it shudders and crashes and drifts in a magical safari.

Axel is playing alongside Henrik Schwarz at Village Underground this weekend. Hype.

Innervisions @ Royal Albert Hall

Tonight I’m headed to a pretty exciting event. For about 6 hours German Electronic music label Innervisions will be taking over one of the most famous homes of classical music in the UK for a live show. Details are pretty scarce, but with production support from LWE and a line-up including some of the label’s biggest names (and founders Dixon & Ame) it’s all set to be a pretty special gig. Last time I checked there were a few tickets available too.
