It’s A Business Doing Pleasure With You – Panthera Krause

Coming at you this fine Wednesday morning with German producer Panthera Krause’s It’s a Business Doing Pleasure With You. It has been described as “…lush, funky and highly infectious…” and who am I to disagree?

My pick is Birthday Club. It has an inventive double time synth line that might be annoying if it wasn’t so goddamned groovy. Imagine the kind of track that Project Pablo and Matthew Herbert would get silly to and you won’t be far off.

Another fave is the title track from the album which closes out the release. The piano chords have a touch of the Harvey Sutherland’s about them, which is never a bad thing. Enjoy.

Superego – Harvey Sutherland

Harvey Sutherland makes music like a man who lives in perma-Summer. It must be the Aussie in him. Anyway, a couple of months ago he foretold our weather by releasing a typically upbeat funky single, Superego. It’ll tick a lot of boxes.

Bonus track: Superego is nice, but nothing on his classics. Know this one?

Bonus playlist: if you like your tracks house-y and and your instruments piano-y then I have the perfect playlist for you. Bloody hell I want to go out.

Tried – BADBADNOTGOOD & Little Dragon

I keep a little list of artists that I really really want to see live. Little Dragon has been on that list for a while. And then; 1) Little Dragon is playing London in November; 2) Little Dragon is playing at Printworks*; 3) Harvey Sutherland is supporting. So I’m pretty happy about all this.

* Probably the best soundsystem in the city

Tried is her latest release – a typically soulful and funky collab with BADBADNOTGOOD. They a bunch of jazzy joker from Ontario. One of my highlights from Glasto last year was seeing them bop around the stage barefoot enjoying themselves just about as much as anyone else in the crowd.

Bonus track: my favourite Harvey Sutherland tune:
